Bruising

Good morning!

The weather is good and it feels nice today.

I really love this season.

By the way, we were having rainy days last week.

Like a marble floor around a building entrance, those were getting slippery.
Often, so is the stone pavement at Omotesando where Serene Studio is located.

This story is about last week, one of the hot yoga customers at the studio told me that she had fell down right before going in the studio after a 60-minute class.

Fortunately, she didn’t have much pain, but she said, ” I thought I had better warm the part because I hit my hips hard”.

Warming a pain part is a wrong idea, and treatment for pain, either warming or cooling , depends on the cause of the pain.
Hitting the hips is “bruising”.
“Bruising” is the injury of soft tissue without a wound by the stress from the outside of the body, such as falling down or hitting something.
Injured part gets swollen or hot, turns red, or tingles.
It sometimes becomes inflamed.

At first, rest, and then cool the part.
Once the inflammation gets better, you can accelerate the healing by warming it at bathtime or improving blood flow with some moderate exercise.
A swelling or inflammation is a body reaction to healing.

Not suppressing the part completely, but controlling is the key in order to make the best use of natural healing power.
We may think unknowingly,

Warming = Good
Cooling = Bad

But, cooling the inflamed part is also the point to advance the cure.
Falling down, getting injured… Pain is not a pleasant thing.
By dealing with pain better, I hope you can ease it as soon as possible.
